Philly’s Top Five

What Makes Philly, "Philly"

Tobias Harris says Sixers win was good for their ‘morale as a team’

2 min read

It’s never fun when you’re losing. No matter what part of the season it is, it is never fun to go through slumps or to lose multiple games in a row. For the Philadelphia 76ers, a three-game skid to end their road trip was disheartening and a trip back home was the remedy for them.

They led by as many as 19 and knocked off the pesky Charlotte Hornets 114-106 at home. Joel Embiid had 18 points and nine rebounds, Furkan Korkmaz added 17 points, Al Horford had 15 and seven rebounds, and Tobias Harris added 14.

The win helped improve everybody’s mood in the locker room following a disastrous end to the road trip as Harris stated:

I just think it was key for our morale as a team. Obviously, we expect a lot of ourselves and I’ve been on teams where three losses in a row is like ‘OK let’s try and get the next one’, but like after one loss for us it was ‘we need the next one ASAP’ so obviously we were in some close games, tough fought games, but for us it’s just about turning the next page and getting on to what’s next. Today was a good start to that and we’ve just got to continue to progress out of that.

The Sixers do have a lot of expectations for the season as they plan on contending for a championship, but they do need some time to come together and grow as a team. It will not happen overnight with this team. It is up to coach Brett Brown, his staff, and the leaders on this team to really keep the team’s morale up and continue to push forward.

They will get their next opportunity to jell on Tuesday when they welcome the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Wells Fargo Center.
