Philly’s Top Five

What Makes Philly, "Philly"

Sixers star Joel Embiid reacts to offensive foul call late vs. Nuggets

1 min read

When a team blows a 21-point lead, there are always a few plays that will be questioned and there will be a few calls that will be dissected. For the Philadelphia 76ers, one of those plays was an offensive foul call on superstar Joel Embiid when the Sixers were going for the win.

After Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic nailed one of those “how did he make that?’ shots, it gave the Sixers a chance to win the game down by one with 2.2 seconds left. Embiid was then called for an offensive foul, one of his eight turnovers on the night, and the Nuggets hit two free throws to seal a 100-97 win.

Coach Brett Brown was speechless on the play after it was all over and then it was Embiid’s turn to react to the play.

Embiid led Philadelphia with 19 points and 15 rebounds, but committing eight turnovers is a recipe for disaster. He has got to take better care of the ball and so a better job of passing out of the multitude of double teams he receives of a nightly basis and it would make things better. The team held a 21-point in the final quarter. It sho9uld not have come down to the final possession of the game.

The team returns home to face the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday looking to find their mojo again.
