Philly’s Top Five

What Makes Philly, "Philly"

Josh Richardson wants to preach patience to Sixers fans after win

2 min read

The Philadelphia 76ers have a ton of high expectations for the 2019-20 season after adding Al Horford and Josh Richardson to their talented group of players, but it will not happen overnight.

Sure, the team started off 5-0 and they were the talk of the league, but then reality set in and the team lost three in a row to end their road trip. It set off alarms in Philadelphia as people were upset with the performances, but Richardson has a message for everybody after a 114-106 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

It felt great, a win is always a great. A win is always positive energy in the locker room so after a tough skid, I think it was good for us to come out here and get this win. You’ve got to remember though we’ve only been playing together for three weeks, honestly in games so it’s going to take time for everything to gel.

Coach Brett Brown always does use the phrase “talent does not trump time” meaning that this team will need time to gel and come together to form that chemistry to make a serious run at a title.

Richardson agrees with his coach on that phrase:

I agree, completely. We have a lot of talent in here, but everybody’s still trying to figure everyone else out.

The Sixers will continue this journey as a team on Tuesday when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers.
