Philly’s Top Five

What Makes Philly, "Philly"

Eagles’ week 12 home matchup with Seahawks could be flexed off Sunday Night Football

If the Philadelphia Eagles don’t quickly turn their season around, they could be in jeopardy of losing a primetime matchup against one of the NFC’s top teams per Philly Voice.

The NFL set up their schedules with the flexibility to move certain late-season games around and flex the times, thus avoiding low rating when two poorly performing teams matchup. With the Eagles sitting at 3-4, they are scheduled to face the Bills, host the Bears, have a bye week, host the Patriots and then travel to Seattle over the next five weeks.

NFL rules suggest that Sunday night games can start being Flexed as early as week five, meaning that if the Eagles were to find themselves in a predicament where they are 3-7 or 4-6 heading into Seattle, that ballgame could be moved out of its current spot.

The league bases the decision off of the possibility that two hotter teams could possibly take that spot on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. NFL executives could be staring at a scenario where Dallas at New England or even Green Bay at San Francisco becomes the more enticing product for Sunday night.
