Reading Terminal

reading-terminal-marketA foodie’s paradise, Reading Terminal Market (pronounced “Red – ding”) is the place to indulge in your gastronomical pleasures. Everything from bakery items to real butcheries on-premise, anything you think you might want is there.

If you go around breakfast, stop by the Dutch Eating Place. You may have to wait for a seat but it’s absolutely worth it. Authentic Amish food draws people to this establishment every day except Monday when none of the Amish stands are open.

If you can’t wait, you can get your meal for take-out. If nothing else, you must get a warm apple dumpling! You can get it with whipped cream but I recommend the heavy cream. If you still have a sweet tooth, walk down a few steps and get donuts fresh made right in front of you!

Local tip: Wander around the market first before making a decision on what to have. Give yourself some time, ‘cause it’s going to take a while. But you will be richly rewarded. If there is a convention in town, it can get really crowded. On those days, go before 11am or after 1:30 to avoid the crowds.
